Pharmaceutical giants Emzor, yesterday commended the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control, (NAFDAC) for its handling of the ongoing Codeine abuse saga, especially, the reopening of the company’s production.

Emzor’s Managing Director, Dr. Stella Okoli, expressed great satisfaction at the decision of NAFDAC to re-open the company’s production line along with those of other manufacturers that had been shut down as a result to the codeine crisis.

Emzor and the two other companies affected by the shutdown had their factories re-opened after all necessary examinations and checks had been carried out.

Dr. Okoli said the promptness of the reopening helped to forestall any wrong interpretations being given to the precautionary shutdown action taken by NAFDAC.

Although the pharmaceutical company has been cleared of any wrong doing, Emzor said it would go out of its way to put measures in place to curb the abuse and support the government in the rehabilitation and treatment of drug addicts.
