A case has been filed against both the Ugandan and Rwandan governments by Civil Society Organisations at the East African Court of Justice over the border restrictions between the two countries.

The complaints report that the border towns can now be described at best as ghost towns and also endanger he lives of women traders in the region.

Earlier this year in Febuary, the Rwandan Government has blocked goods and her citizens from crossing into Uganda. The reason behind this according to the capital Kigali is due to renovations ongoing at the border posts.

The two countries are yet to respond to the suit and the border problems are largely perceived as diplomacy ‘gone bad’ between both countries over the period of two years before the border closure
