A Catholic priest, Reverend Father Emmanuel Bekomson, and the Chief Imam of Calabar Central Mosque, Ustaz Kabir Olowolaiyemo, were among hundreds of youths who protested on Friday against police brutality in the #EndSARS campaign in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The protesters, who gathered at the Millennium Park Roundabout to press home their demands for injustice and police reforms, said they will continue to be on the streets until the Federal Government meets their demands.

Speaking with reporters, Bekomson and Olowolaiyemo said they decided to join the protest to press home the demand for good governance in the country, starting with the police.

Other youth activists who were at the protest, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately initiate policy action on police reforms, failure to do so according to them, will continue to keep them on the streets.

The protests in Calabar led to the blockage of major access roads to the city’s Central Business District including the popular Watt Market Area.
