Canelo Alvarez cruises to knockout win over Fielding

Mexico’s Saul Canelo Alvarez cruised to a knockout victory over Rocky Fielding by knocking down the Englishman four times en route a third-round stoppage in New York.

Alvarez was the overwhelming favourite coming to the bout despite moving a weight up in division and he started on the front foot, with brutal left hands to the body dropping Fielding twice in rounds one and two.

A stinging right to the jaw floored Fielding in the third round and a fourth knockdown courtesy of a left hook to the body prompted the referee to wave it off. 

Alvarez is now a three-weight division champion, having won the WBA ‘regular’ world middleweight title, though the super WBA title is with Callum Smith.
