The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has called on the Federal and State Governments to emulate the conscious efforts made by Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, through what he called balanced religious inclusion in the running of the affairs of the state.

The CAN President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, made the call at the dedication of the Kogi State Government House Chapel held in Lokoja, the state capital, noting that the building of the chapel was a symbol of justice and fairness.

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, again broke another record as the first Muslim Chief Executive of the State to build a place of worship for Christians since the creation of the state.

President of the CAN who was on ground for the commissioning of the edifice said Bello’s style of leadership should be a template for government at all levels.

Governor Bello who spoke through his Deputy, Edward Onoja, said having only a place of worship for Muslims since the state was created was an error he chose to correct.

Some participants at the event commended the Governor, noting that the chapel is a symbol of unity and fairness in the state.

The high point of the commissioning exercise was the presentation of an award to the Kogi State Governor as a friend of the church by the Kogi State Chapter of the CAN.
