Amcon recovered about ₦1trillion from debtors
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has said that its debtors will no longer have any room for negotiation as it plans to implement the seizure of assets of its chronic debtors.

Mr Ahmed Kuru, the Managing Director and CEO of AMCON, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Abuja.

He said that the debt of over 5.4 trillion naira owed to the corporation has lingered for far too long.

He also disclosed that the corporation will go after the directors and private companies of debtors where registered assets of the companies are not enough to clear their obligation.

Kuru said that AMCON had gotten tired of debtors lies about how they plan to pay and end up never following through with it.

He said that part of the 5.4 trillion naira had been with the banks for 5 years before it was taken over by AMCON, and seven years later after the takeover, the debtors are still yet to pay.

He further stated that the new strategy is now one of recovery as opposed to resolution and that

As at the end of 2017, about 740 billion naira worth of debt had been recovered by the corporation.
