Building Demolition: Aggrieved Owners Seek Answers, Call On Sanwo-Olu For Clarification

Lagos state government has been urged clarify whether or not it ordered the demolition of a- multi-million-naira shopping complex situated at number 7,9 and 11, of Akinsemoyin street, by Breadfruit Street in Balogun, Lagos.

This call was made by the aggrieved owners of the demolished 3 storey building comprising the Akinsemoyin family, the developer and some traders, while addressing journalists on Monday, in Lagos Island.

The affected traders who also staged a protest alleged that officials of the Lagos state building control agency, LABSCA, carried out the demolition at about 1a.m on the 20th of August, 2023 without prior notice.

According to them, after two days of demolition, a new developer identified as Saheed Keshinro started erecting another building on the same space.

They claimed that they paid the sum of N4.5 million naira for the regularisation and certification of the building before it was brought down, five days later.

Members of the Akinsemoyin family who were at the briefing, attested to how the land was leased to the developer.
