Buhari Orders Military Operation To Tackle Recent Killings In Sokoto

Following killings in Sokoto, the recent attack in Sabin Birni Local Government Area, President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered military operations against gunmen and bandits in the state. 

During the Eid-Fitr festival over the weekend, bandits launched an attack on five communities in Sabin Birni Local Government Area and as gathered, 70 residents were murdered.

Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto State Governor, had visited the communities hours before the bandits launched the attack that left residents in shock and mourning. 

According to Garba Shehu, the President’s spokesman, Buhari assured to bring these bandits to face the law.

He also sent his heartfelt condolences to all the families who lost their loved ones to the bandit attack.

The attack is coming at the time the country battles to flatten the infection cycle of the Coronavirus pandemic that has infected thousands in the country.

The President described this as unfortunate and tragic.

President Buhari disclosed that a military operation code ‘’Operation Accord” was initiated by the military to tackle the bandits attacking communities in North-West and North Central states.
