Post relieving Gavin Williamson of his duties as Defence Secretary, the British Prime Minister has appointed Penny Morduant, the former Minister for International Development as the new Defence Secretary.

Gavin Williamson was fired from his position despite claims of innocence about the leaked discussions about Chinese telecoms company from her National Security Council (NSC).

The NSC is a forum in which senior cabinet ministers discuss top secret national security information, and the leak sparked anger in parliament.

Penny Morduant is the first female to ever occupy the position of Defence Minister. To replace Penny Morduant, May appointed Rory Stewart the now former Prisons Minister.
