In a surprising twist of events, the Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, who was charged with NGN 6.9 Billion in fraud by the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has been granted a bail worth 50 Million Naira.

This is his second appearance before the court. The former governor is standing trial over an 11-count charge bordering on money laundering, abuse of public office, criminal breach of trust and stealing, up to the tune of N6.9bn.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Mojisola Olatoregun granted Mr Fayose bail with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must have landed property in Lagos. The guarantor is also required to have three-year tax clearance in Lagos.

The judge, however, said the Ex-Governor should be remanded in the prison custody pending the fulfilment of the bail condition.

Former Governor Fayose still pleads not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
