As part of its constitutional responsibilities and effort towards contributing to finding a lasting solution to the issue of banditry in the state, the Katsina State House of Assembly has deliberated on an Executive Bill, to prohibit street begging.

Presenting the bill on the floor of the assembly, the House Leader, Abubakar Abukur, said the bill seeks to complement the state government’s ongoing efforts, of repatriating Almajiris to their home states, as well as sanitizing the Tsangaya system of education.

He said the bill, if passed into law, will help in tackling the menace of street begging, noting that most of the children roaming the streets, grow to be a threat to national security.

The Deputy Speaker of the House, Dalhatu Tafoki, who presided over the sitting, said the members of the Assembly, will deliberate on the bill accordingly.

The bill has, however, passed first reading on the floor of the Assembly after much deliberations from members of the House.
