The bill seeking to bring an end to the discrimination of female Police officers in the Nigeria Police Force has passed the second reading

The bill which was sponsored by Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi seeks to amend the Nigeria Police force Act of two thousand and four expunging gender discriminatory provisions

Senator Onyewuchi urged lawmakers to remove some outrageous provisions in the Police act like clauses which mandates female police officers to seek permission from the Inspector General of Police before they can get married

He says this is discriminatory, old fashioned and an abuse of their rights
