Monday night football is back with a bang as two of England’s biggest teams lock horns in the English Premier League top 4 race by 9 pm (CAT). The teams are placed fourth and ninth place respectively and both would be desperate for wins in order to claim bragging rights and move an inch closer to securing Champions League football for next season.

The Blues would be hosting the Red Devils in tonight’s clash and would be hoping to improve their home form this season. Chelsea has only won five Premier League home games this season and have suffered four defeats and settled for three draws.

This poor home form has cost them crucial points but the reigning Europa League Champions still find themselves in 4th place on the log with a point above London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs.

Manchester United, on the other hand, are terribly placed in 9th position due to their inconsistency so far this season. They have also been hit with injuries to key players such as Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and most recently Marcus Rashford. All these players would not be available for the match tonight but Nemanja Matic is set to make a return after serving a one-match ban and deadline day signing, Odion Ighalo, is set to make an appearance on the bench.

The debut of the 30-year-old striker who arrived from China is highly anticipated as he would be the first Nigerian to play for Manchester United. The boyhood United fan went through an intense fitness program away from his teammates as he went through a 14-day testing period to be cleared of the coronavirus which has taken thousands of lives in China.

He trained with his teammates for the first time yesterday and would travel with the team for the match tonight. The match is set to be highly entertaining as it would be a tactical battle between the managers who have met twice this season already with United the victors on both occasions.

The Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard would want his players to record a victory over their bitter rivals and move a step closer to securing Champions Leag

football for next season.
