AOCM : Health workers under the aegis of Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Professionals in Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, have embarked on an indefinite strike following government’s failure to meet their demands.

Chairman of the Unions, Comrade Benjamin Ioryem, made the announcement shortly after a resolution reached by congress, demanding new implementation of harzard allowance, non – implementation of 2023 promotion, wrong placement of diploma holders and stagnation of degree holders on CONHESS 12.

Our Correspondent Francis Ter reports that the Unions downed tools as at 12pm this afternoon, expressed dismay over dissimilarity of pension deduction and remittance benefit, death benefit are paid to next of kin for over six months and implementation of the review CONHESS, non – payment of medical claims among others.

Others who spoke called on the state government to do the needful to fix the hospital from total collapse as water, electricity and welfare of staff is in dire straits..

Meanwhile, as at the time filing this report, workers were still giving services, patients will now have to face the reality on ground.
