The Benue State governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Makurdi has upheld the victory of Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, as the valid winner of the Twenty-nineteen governorship election in Benue State.

The Tribunal in a unanimous decision by its three-man panel chaired by Justice Henry Olusiyi dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress APC’s candidate; Emmanuel Jime, challenging Governor Ortom’s victory.

Reading the ten-hour judgement, Justice Olusiyi said the APC candidate Emmanuel Jime failed to provide substantial evidence to prove his allegations of over-voting and non-compliance with the provisions of Electoral Act.

Counsel to Governor Ortom, Sebastian Hon SAN described the ruling as a true reflection of the twenty-nineteen Benue state governorship election, saying the decision reflected a victory for the millions of voters in Benue state.
