An attempt by some kidnappers to collect ransom for a woman they forced at gunpoint to withdraw money from different ATM machines in Yenagoa has been foiled by a SWAT team of the Bayelsa State Police Command and members of the Bayelsa Vigilante Group.

The car of lady, Judith Adoga, a civil servant was swooped upon by the abductors numbering four, pretending to be officials of the Environmental Sanitation Authority.

Adoga said she was held captive and driven off in her vehicle. She was not only forced to withdraw all the money in her bank account but also told to demand money from family members and friends before she would be released.

Luck, however, ran out of hoodlums when one of the relations who was contacted for money sent a distress call to the police and the Bayelsa Vigilante group who tracked them to Okutukutu Community, a suburb in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Two suspects, Ebi Tonbofa and Headman Eniye were arrested, while a revolver pistol with three rounds of bullets was also recovered in the operation.

A spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Buswat, who confirmed the incident, said the arrested suspects are helping the police in their investigations and would soon be charged to court.
