Bayelsa NBA Protest Over Member’s Murder

The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Yenagoa chapter, has condemned the gruesome murder of one of its members Abel Pumokumo by unidentified armed men on January 16, 2019, describing the incident as barbaric and unfortunate. 

During a solemn walk to demonstrate their grievances, members of the bar and relatives of the deceased lawyer called on security agencies to conduct an effective investigation to ensure justice is served. 

Dressed in black apparels, members of the NBA in Yenagoa took to the streets to demonstrate their displeasure over the murder of Abel Pumokumo on January 16. 

Pumokumo was reportedly shot along the Melford Okilo road after carrying out a transaction at a commercial bank. 

The family members of the deceased want justice. 

The solemn match later proceeded to the headquarters of the State Police Command and then moved to the head office of the Department of State Security where they were assured of adequate investigation. 

The body of the 47-year old lawyer still lies cold in the morgue.
