Bandits have killed three women while working on their farm on Tuesday in Rafin Bauna, Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

It was gathered that the three women killed were refugees who returned to their farm to harvest Irish potatoes before they were shot dead.

Spokesperson of the Irigwe Development Association, Malison Davidson, while confirming the incident said the women were killed in the afternoon a few meters away from a military checkpoint.

Meanwhile, Troops of Operation Safe Haven, OPSH, said it has arrested eight suspects in connection with the shooting of the three women at a farm in Rafin Bauna on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

A statement issued by the Information Officer of the OPSH, Major Ishaku Takwa, said the troops earlier responded to a distress call that three women were shot on their farm close to Rafin Bauna by bandits and the troops immediately mobilized to the scene and discovered two of the three women were shot dead on the spot, while one of the women sustained gunshot wounds and the bodies were recovered while the injured woman was evacuated to a medical facility for medical care, but unfortunately she later died while receiving treatment.

He said the arrest of the eight suspects in connection with the killing of the three women was made possible after the entire area was immediately cordoned off on the arrival of the troops.

As of the time of filing this report, the eight suspects are currently in the custody of the OPSH and are undergoing interrogation.
