Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, says the Federal Government’s refusal to support the State Government’s effort in funding the construction of the Calabar-Odukpani Junction federal highway is causing untold financial hardship to the state.
Ayade made this known in Calabar during an inspection of the ongoing spaghetti flyover bridge at the Odukpani junction of the federal highway.
He lamented that the Federal Government refused to support the state with finances to complete the roads in an effort to reduce traffic congestions along the main entrance into the City Centre is hitting deep into the state coffer.
While appealing to the Federal Government to support the state’s efforts, Ayade stressed that the continued neglect of Odukpani Junction of Calabar Itu Road by the Nigerian Government at the centre made his administration commence the flyover to cushion the effect of hard times commuters face on the road, but the carrying capacity is beyond Cross River State.
Cross River State Government had commenced the dualisation of the Tinapa- Odukpani Junction with flyover linkIng the T-Junction of the road, but Governor Ayade said the Federal Government’d support is needed at the stage.
