Fabio Fognini beat Austria’s Dominic Thiem in straight sets at the Rome Open much to the delight of the home crowd.
Defeat means the Austrian will go for more than a year without a competitive win as he struggles for momentum in his comeback.
Fognini meanwhile, is closing in on 400 Tour victories with this win being his 398th.
