Arms proliferation: Delta police arrest suspects, recover firearms and cocaine

Sixty rounds of 7.62 millimetre AK-47 live ammunition has been intercepted by the Dragon Patrol Team of the Delta State Police Command along the Warri/Sapele road in the state.

The 36-year-old suspect, Patrick Anthony, who concealed the live ammunition inside a pair of Canvas shoes was apprehended in a commercial vehicle during a Stop-and-Search Operation along the Warri/Sapele road.

Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed, in a statement signed by the State Command spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said “Raider Operatives” of the Command in a separate incident arrested four suspects; two males and two females at Abraka axis of Asaba, the state capital.

Items recovered from the four suspects during the raid on the blackspot include an English Berreta Pistol, five live 9-millimetre ammunition, a bag of cocaine, and another bag of Indian Hemp.

The CP in the statement further assured that all suspects will be charged to court upon the end of ongoing investigations.
