Antoine Griezmann announces Atletico Madrid exit

Antoine Griezmann, through a message on the club’s website, has announced he will leave Atletico Madrid this summer, after five years at the club. 

The Frenchman in his farewell message on the club’s website, thanked everyone at the club for the incredible five years spent, stating he has the club at heart.

The 28-year old has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid’s La Liga rival, Barcelona since last summer, and speculations intensified following Barcelona’s embarrassing UCL exit in the hands of Liverpool.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to pay Griezmann’s £108m release clause to pull the deal through.

Antoine Griezmann joined Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2014 and helped them to a Europa League title, Spanish Super Cup and UEFA Super Cup. He scored 133 goals in 256 matches.
