Andrew Nevin, Partner & Chief Economist at Pricewaterhouse Coopers has on Plus TV Africa’s Business News segment shared that President Trump’s ban on Nigerian Immigrants is counterproductive to his overall agenda of having high-quality immigrants into the United States.
Nevin mentioned that Nigerian Immigrants on an average are usually more educated, hold better positions and are rarely ever involved in terrorism in the United States and as such the ban works against the goal of bringing in quality migrants into the States.
While he maintains that it is important for Nigerians to have good economic ties with the U.S.A and the ban may not necessarily affect the bilateral relationship between both nations, he identified that the ban could lead to Nigerians looking for alternatives in Canada and other countries.
