Akin Abayomi: 119 reported cases showing symptoms of COVID-19 doesn’t translate to infection!

On Tuesday, 14th of April during a press briefing, Mr Akin Abayomi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health announced that about 119 people have shown COVID 19 virus symptoms since the house to house testing began.

The Commissioner disclosed during this press briefing that 118,000 tests have been taken in the past week since the Community Active Case Search testing began.
The programme which was launched by the Lagos state government on the 6th of April to weed out the individuals who have been infected with the COVID 19 virus, so as to reduce the spread of the virus around the state.

The Commissioner made it clear that because these 119 individuals are showing symptoms does not mean that they are infected with the virus. The COVID 19 virus is not the only illness that can cause respiratory symptoms.

All the 119 individuals who have shown symptoms for the COVID 19 will undergo thorough testing for the virus and it will show how much COVID 19 activities are happening in those communities.

So far, the Lagos State has confirmed 192 cases of the COVID 19 virus and 6 deaths have been recorded.
