Former National Captain, Ahemd Musa has agreed to play for the Kano Pillars as a member of the Nigeria Professional Football League to help the team boost their image and also to help him maintain his fitness goals.

Ahmed Musa’s contract allows him to leave once he finds an European club to play for. Musa who is now a free agent received offers from England, Russia and Turkey but took up the offer to play with the Kano Pillars at the request of the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a statement, he shared that he was very happy to do all to improve the image of Nigerian football

“Anything that improves the image of Nigerian football is something that I strive to embark on and Kano Pillars holds a special place in my heart,” the former Leicester City player told BBC Sport Africa as he considered the deal.

“It’s the team that helped me become the professional footballer I am today, so this is more than just football but a very strong bond.”

Musa who has in times past helped Nigeria win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and scored two goals at the 2014, and 2018 FIFA World Cup is no stranger to the terrain.
