Abia Government Clears Criminal Hideouts

Abia State government, South East Nigeria is working with local communities to checkmate rising incidents of kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.

One of such collaborative efforts is the ongoing clearing of bush parts serving as hideouts for criminals along the Lomara-Nneato road in Umunneochi Local Government Area.

Speaking to reporters, the Security Adviser to the Abia State Governor, Captain Awa Udensi Agwu Rtd, said it has become the tradition of the state government to raise down any location being used as hideout or escape route for criminals in the state.

Also, the Council Chairman, Ifeanyi Madu, after conducting reporters round the criminal flashpoints being cleared, believes that such joint efforts between all the tiers of government and security agencies will go a long way in restoring security in the area.

According to him, the exercise has become necessary as various areas in Umunneochi has become flashpoints for all kinds of criminality including kidnapping and armed robbery.

Recall that just recently, the Abia State government demolished two suspected kidnap hideouts in Aba North and Isiala-Ngwa North Council areas of the state.
