The latest testimony made by Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Super TV CEO Usifo Ataga, has been described as an “afterthought” by Lagos State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu. Chidinma denied killing Ataga in a viral video released on Monday, contradicting her previous confession.

The UNILAG undergraduate during her parade on June 24th acknowledged stabbing the 50-year-old Ataga in his neck. During her confession, Odumosu stated that the police had the culprit on tape.

He said, “That is the trait of an active criminal; she was here, we recorded her. The night she was arrested, we recorded her at the state CIID, even the lady that rented the place to her, we recorded her and we have all that. If she now has an afterthought, an investigation will prove that.”

The Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, sharing the same sentiments as Hakeem Odumosu, said the interview should be dismissed. He said whatever is seen on video cannot change the fact that Chidinma remains a prime suspect of the murder case.

In the trending life video interview carried out by Crime Fighters, the 21-year-old claimed that she came back to the service apartment where they lodged at Lekki, Lagos state, and found Ataga’s corpse lying there. She said that before she left, he stood up and locked the door but when she returned, she knocked and there was no response. She tried to open the door but it was not locked, she saw the duvet and pillow lying on the floor.

She said the coach faced the door and the bed was soaked with blood, the floor was covered in blood and the television and music were on as if it was a break-in, she saw him on the floor. In her more recent testimony, she claimed she didn’t know what to do, she took both her things and his, she was scared that if she called people, they would have arrested her because she was alone in the room with Ataga.

“I just did it; it is not like I had something to do with his death. I never had anything to do with his death.”

She said she just left but while she was packing, she noticed her shirt was stained with blood, so she quickly changed, she took the bag that contained his ID documents like bank statements and put them in a nylon bag, and left.
