Shocking figures from the United Nations Children Education fund UNICEF reveal that Nigeria loses almost five hundred billion naira annually to poor sanitation and hygiene.

Health experts while converging on Abuja the nation’s capital, say about twenty-two thousand (22000) Nigerians including another eighty-seven thousand (87000) children under the age of five, die each year from diarrhoea.

They also say four out of ten Nigerian children under the age of five are moderately and severely stunted and attribute these poor water sanitation and hygiene, and acute malnutrition.

They say for Nigeria to achieve its health targets aimed at reversing this trend by twenty-thirty, all stakeholders including the public and private sector must collaborate to form an effective partnership.
