4 bandits killed as Army foils 2 bandits attacks in Katsina, Zamfara

The rate of banditry attacks and other criminal activities are said to be on the decrease in the North-West region with the Operation Sahel Sanity troops recording tremendous successes.

The Acting Director Defense Media Operations, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko, who stated this in a statement hinted that the improvement of security is as a result of arrests of bandits informants and their logistic suppliers.

According to the statement, between September 25 to October 3, 2020, a total of eight suspected bandits were arrested, four bandits neutralized during an artillery bombardment with several others escaping with various degrees of gunshot injuries, while six of their informants were also arrested including logistics and drugs suppliers.

Onyeuko further noted that within the period under review, a total of two bandits attacks were foiled both in Kurfi and Kaura Namoda areas of Katsina and Zamfara states respectively leading to the rescue of six abducted victims and recovery of over 200 rustled animals.

He hinted that the rescued victims have since been reunited with their families while the recovered animals have also been handed over to the rightful owners.

Onyeuko also noted that during the period of clearance and engagements with the bandits, three Dane guns, two rounds of 7.62 millimeters of special live ammunitions, one motorcycle, large quantities of harmful substances including drugs and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the bandits.
