As the 2023 elections draw near, the Nigeria Union of Journalists has tasked the Independent National Electoral Commission, and various political stakeholders to proffer a lasting solution to the persistent attacks on journalists across the nation.

NUJ president, Chris Isiguzo said this in Lafia during a one-day training for journalists on conflict-sensitive reporting and 2023 general election.

Isiguzo who was represented by the NUJ National Treasurer, Atunbi Bamidele, said the safety of journalists is essential in the coming elections.

He explained that the aim of the workshop was to strengthen the way and manner journalists perform their work during elections.

Earlier in his speech, the resident INEC commissioner in Nasarawa state, Uthman Ajidagba commended the NUJ for organising the programme, noting that the success of their activities depends largely on adequate reportage by the media.
