Katsina Emirate Councils suspend Sallah Durbar celebration

The Katsina and Daura Emirate Councils in Katsina State have suspended the annual Sallah Durbar celebration that follows the Eid-el Fitr.

According to the different statements from the Emirates, signed by the Danejin Daura, Abdulmumini Salihu, on behalf of the Secretary of the Council and that of the Katsina Emirate Council, Mamman Ifo, attributed the suspension due to the security situation in the state.

The statements further added that the Durbar celebration will resume as soon as the security situation is improved.

It is the second time the colourful Durbar celebration involving horse riding is suspended since activities of banditry started in the state.
