2021 FIBA Afrobasket: Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire advance to semi final

Five-time Afrobasket winners, Senegal will battle Cote d’Ivoire who are seeking their third title for a place in the final of the 30th edition of the competition on Saturday.

To scale through Senegal defeated Angola, the most successful team of the competition 79-74 while Cote d’Ivoire blew out guinea 98-50 in the quarter-final.

Angola’s Carols Morais scored a game-high 28 points and 6 rebounds for the man of the match performance.

Gerson Gonclaves and Jilson Bango also scored double digits combining for 24 points but their effort fell was not enough to see the 11-time champions through to the final.

Georgio Dieng, Mommadou, and Ibrahim Faye were all impressive for Senegal.

The quarterfinal matches continue today, Uganda against Cape Verde while South Sudan dares two-time champions, Tunisia.
