Local divers have recovered the bodies of 20 victims of the boat mishap which occurred on Wednesday. The passenger boat was conveying about 180 passengers, mainly traders from the Loko Mina community in Niger State to a market in Kebbi.
Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State has described the incident as pathetic and unfortunate. He urged the families, friends, and associates of the victims to take the incident as an act of Allah.
A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mary Berje, said the search to recover the remaining victims will continue.
