1000 People confirmed dead as Ebola worsens in Congo-Kinshasa

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have reported the cases of Ebola Death in the Congo-Kinshasa region to have hit the 1000 mark.

The DRC health ministry also reported that the death toll had risen to 1008 as at Friday last week.

Violence has been a major deterrent to contain the disease as many are afraid to go for treatment due to fear of getting attacked.

These displaced individuals are now living in unsanitary conditions thereby heightening the risk of infecting others with the virus.

According to Michael Ryan, the Executive Director of the WHO, the case is fast becoming one of continued, intense transmission due to the insecurity and volatility of the situation.
