1,000 Contractors apply for Nigerian Railway Corporation’s projects

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has recently opened up the bidding pre-qualifiers for contractors towards its 2018 projects and has received over 1,000 contractors so far.

The pre-qualification exercise held at the NRC headquarters at Ebute Metta, Lagos, on Wednesday.

The NRC Director of Procurement, Mr Ben Iloanusi, said an estimate of 1,000 submissions were received across the various categories which include but are not limited to:

•    emergency repair and maintenance of tracks

•    bridges and culvert renovation

•    upgrade of railway stations nationwide

•    procurement of locomotives, coaches & wagons

•    railway inspection vehicles and cranes

•    rehabilitation of locomotives and coaches

•    rehabilitation and installation of equipment for mechanical, electrical, security, printing and ICT facilities

•    procurement of rolling stock consumables and spare parts, and provision of insurance services

 

The Director of Operations, Mr Niyi Ali, reassured that the selection process which would be completed within a month would be transparent and fair to all.
