Some residents of Zamfara State have faulted the decision of Governor Bello Mohammed to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.

They observed that the decision is impacting negatively on governance and the fight against insecurity in the state, as the governor is busy focusing to get the former governor, Abdulaziz Yari’s faction of the APC, to accept him into the party, thereby abandoning governance.

The residents were speaking with reporters on the spate of insecurity said economic activities in the Dansadau community have been grounded as residents can not travel to the state capital, without a security escort.

The residents said the insecurity in Zamfara State has been aggravating by the day, with its attendant consequences on the human, economic, social, and infrastructure development of the state.

They noted that in recent times, there is hardly a day passing by, without a report of the attack, abduction, and the killing of innocent citizens in the state, by the deadly marauders.

Troubled rural communities like the Dansadau area, where the activities of the bandits have been escalating, have resulted in farmers not accessing their farmlands, residents cannot also travel to Gusau the state capital for the fear of being attacked by the criminals, unless security operatives help them out.

A resident of the Dansadau community, Nuhu Dansadau, narrated what members of the community are currently facing, in the troubled area.

A human rights activist, Anas Anka, wants the Zamfara State Governor Bello Mohammed to urgently restrategize the current war against the bandits, to salvage the people of the evil acts the criminals are subjecting them to, and restore peace.

Ana’s Anka and Nuhu Dansadau emphasized the need for government to be proactive in tackling the insecurity, to make the state safer for residents, to go about their normal activities, and to boost the socio-economic development of the state.

Dansadau community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, which is one of the frontlines of banditry activities, has a large forest that spreads to four states of Niger, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Sokoto.

The forest is one of the hideouts of the bandits in Zamfara State.
