Yahaya Bello swears-in new chief judge

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has sworn- in the new Chief Judge of the State, Honourable Justice Richard Olonrunfemi and the President of the State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Isiaka Momoh-Jimoh with a call on them to dispense justice with fairness to all concerned.

Bello, who charged them to be upright in the discharge of their responsibilities, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment not to interfere in the running of the judiciary.

The Glass House of the Lugard House was filled to capacity with friends, family members, and colleagues who have come to cheer them, and with excitement, they both appended their signatures on the dotted lines, pledging their absolute fidelity to the Federal Republic of Nigeria through the Constitution.

Governor Bello was represented by his Deputy, Edward Onoja, who expressed confidence in the duo to live above board, based on their past records of achievements having served in acting capacities.

Kogi State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ibrahim Sani, spoke through the Solicitor General, Hawa Yusufu, and for him, Bello is a judiciary, friendly governor.

Speaking on behalf of his colleague, the newly sworn Chief Judge of the Kogi State high court Justice Richard Olonrufemi, commended Yahaya Bello for not interfering in the running of the judiciary.

The New Chief Judge hails from Mopa/Muro Local Government Area while the President of the Customary Court of Appeal hails from Adavi Local Government Area.

The two jurists are expected to play complementary roles with the executive and legislature for the common good of citizens of the state.
