There was a low turnout of voters on Saturday, October 9, 2021, in many polling units within the Northern Senatorial District of Plateau State in the ongoing local government election.

In many of the polling units visited in Jos South, Riyom, and Barkin/Ladi Local Government Areas, voters were being awaited while they were busy working on their farms.

However, the case was different in the Jos North Local Government Area where the turnout is many with voters going through the process of accreditation and voting simultaneously.

Abdul Salis, a voter at the Ibrahim Katsina Ward Polling Unit who spoke to reporters said the election is going on peacefully and expressed satisfaction with the process.

Similarly, Bashir Sati, the State APC Secretary who also spoke to reporters after voting at the Abba Na Shehu Ward, commended the state electoral empire, PLASIEC, and security agencies for their efforts towards the ongoing polls.

Meanwhile, a helicopter was used by security operatives to monitor the ongoing elections across the 17 local government areas of the state.
