It’s day 10 of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and team Nigeria is looking good for a possible gold medal in wrestling as Blessing Oborududu advanced to the final of the 68kg women’s freestyle.

She defeated Battsedttdeg Soronsobold from Mongolia in the semi-final 7-2 to advance.

The Commonwealth gold medalist and ten-time African champion had beaten Elis Manolova 13 -2 in the round of 16 before edging out Zhumanazarova Meerim in the quarter-finals.

She will face Marianna Stock Mensah from the United States in tomorrow’s final

In athletics, Tobiloba Amusan narrowly finished outside the medal zone as she finished fourth in the women’s 100m hurdles won by Jasmine Camacho-Quinn from Puerto Rico.

It was another bad day in the office for Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, who lost 102-83 to host Japan, making the third defeat in as many matches as the competition.

As it stands, China leads the medal table with 28 gold, 16 silver, and 14 bronze medals followed by the United States with 21 gold, 24 silver, and 16 bronze medals while the host nation, Japan are third with 17 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze medals.
