Tigray Crisis: Abiy Ahmed defends Crackdown

Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed has welcomed three representatives from the African Union, including Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Joaquim Chissano and Kgalema Motlanthe over the crisis that has plagued the region for the past few weeks.

The Prime Minister defended the crackdown in the region, saying it was to protect the nation from impunity and that failure to do so would be devastating.

He, however, took the opportunity to thank the envoy for their knowledga and concern in a tweet as below:

My utmost gratitude to President ⁦@CyrilRamaphosa⁩ & his Special Envoys for their concerted effort to understand our rule of law operations. Receiving the wisdom & counsel of respected African elders is a precious continental culture that we value greatly in Ethiopia.
