Of recent times, there has been a rivalry among smartphone companies to produce the ultimate bezel-less smartphone. The vice president of Lenovo, Chang Cheng, recently released a sketch alongside a tease partial photo of the new Z5 phone with its screen framed by an ultra-thin bezel.

The Lenovo Z5 is said to come with a spectacular screen-to-body-ratio of 95%, alongside four novel technological breakthroughs with 18 patented technologies.

Phone enthusiasts cannot wait for the launch of this new smartphone and are curious to see how the front facing ‘selfie’ camera will be handled.

Although Apple claims that the iPhone X is a bezel-less ‘all screen’ smartphone, the Android community disagrees with this assumption, as it’s screen-to-body-ratio is about 83% percent.

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 held in February, where phone manufacturers came to showcase new mobile phones and mobile phone technologies, the Vivo Apex concept phone was one of the phones worth noting. The concept phone showed off an impressive OLED screen display and over 92 percent screen-to-body-ratio. For the front facing camera, the Apex phone uses a pop-up camera.

There have also been unconfirmed leaks of a full bezel-less flagship phone from Samsung called the Samsung X9 rumoured to be released sometime this year.

After a $2.91 billion purchase of Motorola from Google, Lenovo has, to say the least, been unimpressive, both at home and abroad, with local rivals like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Huawei leaving them behind in the phone market. In their desperate bid to get back to the forefront, they have attracted the world’s attention and, hopefully, with this Z5, they will deliver above expectations.
