Taraba State Government has been commended by farmers for providing favourable conditions for the 2021 cropping season.

The sustenance of peace between farmers and herders, and the distribution of farming inputs are some of the steps taken by the state government to ensure that this year’s farming season is a success with victims of communal crisis and flood disaster as priority beneficiaries.

Taraba State is known for its vast agrarian potential with 65 per cent of the population engaged in farming during the rainy season irrespective of their various occupations.

Peaceful coexistence between crop and livestock farmers, which has threatened agricultural growth in the state is gradually gaining ground through dialogue efforts by the state government.

The 2021 farming season might hold high productivity in stock, with the timely distribution of farming inputs by the state government which has provided thousands of farmers with improved seedlings, fertilizer, and modern farming machinery for improved yields.

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, said that he understands the economic significance of agriculture to the people, hence the continuous effort to provide a conducive environment for all farmers.

The Governor also pleaded with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Finance to consider the state’s proposed partnership with the Czech Republic to provide farmers in the state with tillers.

Persons affected by the communal crisis and victims of flood disasters are priority groups for the Taraba State government in its support to farmers in the 2021 cropping season.
