The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji and other stakeholders have urged the SouthWest leaders to consider irrigation farming as a way to mitigate the immense losses suffered in the previous year due to misled predictions.

He further advised that to prevent food shortages this year, mass irrigation should be employed whilst security should be reinforced to protect farmers from criminals who sabotage their efforts

According to the Oba, there is a need to embrace forward thinking farming practices to attain food sufficiency in the South-West, as conditions such as unpredictable weather conditions, insecurity and lack of funding is threatening livelihoods of farmers.
