South African Olympic champion, Caster Semenya, has revealed plans to challenge controversial new rules governing female athletes’ testosterone levels in court.
Her lawyer, Gregory Nott, made this known today, calling it a landmark case bothering on international human rights and discrimination against female athletes with damning consequences for gender rights.
The International Association of Athletics Federations, IAAF, announced new rules in April, be adopted in November, citing hyper-androgynous competitors’ advantage as unfair.
Semenya’s powerful physique has put her in the centre of the debate on the effects of hyperandrogenism which causes those affected to produce high levels of male sex hormones.
