The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police has warned job seekers to be wary of fake job opportunities, scammers, and other men of the underworld.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, SP Odiko Macdon, Amiengheme Andrew gave the warning in Uyo, the state capital, after the arrest of one 20-year-old Uduak Frank Akpan, for alleged kidnapping, raping, and murdering his female victim, Iniobong Umoren.
The statement said that on Friday, April 30, 2021, the Command received a report on the disappearance of the victim.
Men of Akwa Ibom Anti-Kidnapping Squad, led by CSP Inengiye IGOSI, having gotten the available lead, consolidated on the initial great progress made by the DPO Uruan, SP Samuel Ezeugo, arrested the alleged perpetrator.
Akpan confessed to having lured Iniobong to his house in the guise of giving her a job but ended up sexually and physically assaulting her which led to her death.
The statement further said that in order to cover his tracks, Akpan dragged and buried his victim in a shallow grave in his father’s compound.
