Playing in the left back position for Senegal, and also in France’s Ligue 2, Saliou Ciss will no longer be a part of his country’s campaign in Russia. He will now be replaced by Caen full-back, Adama Mbengue. This was reported by the Senegal Football Federation Sunday.
The left-back, Ciss, suffered an ankle injury in a friendly against Luxembourg.
Saliou Ciss’ replacement, Mbengue has been on the four-man standby list for the Teranga Lions before he arrived to join the team on Sunday as they prepare for their opening world cup fixture against Poland in Group H on Tuesday.
According to the rules from football’s governing body FIFA, a team is allowed to change an injured player 24 hours before their opening game.
