The Nigerian Army says the recent killings, arson, and destructions in the South East Nigeria was being executed by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Eastern Security Network, ESN.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, stated this while briefing reporters in Abuja on the ongoing army exercises across the country.

He urged members of the public to disregard the various videos in circulation depicting army personnel as enemies of the people.

Giving details of Excercise Golden Dawn, Enduring Peace and Still Waters that span 20 states and the FCT, the Director noted that it has led to the rescue of 26 kidnapped victims, arrest of 33 drug peddlers, and elimination of eight IPOB members.

Nwachukwu appealed to the public to provide timely intelligence reports to enhance proactive operations to stem criminality.
