Covid-19 will end up causing mere cold

With a record 11,260 new cases of COVID-19 infections in one day, Peru’s total cases has now hit 1,512,384 cases with 51,032 deaths according to the Health Ministry.

This new wave is a more contagious variant first discovered in Brazil known as P1. Neigbouring countries such as Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay are also seeing rising infections. The United States has also reported rising infection rates as more people are coming out from isolation.

Peru scheduled to hold its presidential and congressional elections come April 11 is set to follow through despite the dismal infection findings. The government has disclosed that the polls will go on but will be carried out under strict health conditions.

Peru has received 1 million Sinopharm vaccines from China and also 317,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine through the COVAX scheme.
