The Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, says over one million Nigerians had completed their pre-registration online in four weeks as the Commission has also commenced in-person or physical registration at dedicated centres nationwide.
Yakubu revealed this in Abuja while receiving a three-man delegation of the National Electoral Commission of Liberia who is on a two-day study tour for biometric registration of voters in Nigeria.
The Chairman commended the Republic of Liberia for the decision to move away from the manual register by conducting a pilot biometric voter registration as early as November 2021.
In her earlier response, the Chairman of the Liberian National Electoral Commission, Davidetta Lansanah, requested the study of the Commission and its electoral resource facility and urged Nigeria to support the Commission towards adopting biometric registration.
