Operation safe haven parades kidnappers in Jos

Operation Safe Haven in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has paraded 17 notorious kidnappers who were apprehended in the Jengre Bassa Local Government Area of the state.

The kidnappers have been terrorising residents of the area, but luck ran out on them when they attempted to kidnap one Gambo Yawuro from his residence on March 16.

The kidnappers comprising 11 from Kaduna State, four from Bauchi, 1 from Kano, and 1 Plateau claimed they were on a revenge mission. Items recovered include seven motorcycles, a fabricated rifle, two live cartridges, 13 cutlasses, amongst others.

Four members of a syndicate were also paraded for terrorising residents of Lamingo, luck also ran out on them when their victim raised an alarm which led to their arrest.

Items found on them include two mobile phones and some quantity of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. One Wisdom Dunyel was equally apprehended for being in possession of a Harrisburg pistol loaded with seven rounds of ammunition

The Commander, Operation Safe Haven, Major General Dominic Onyemulu, while parading the suspects, said the Joint Task Force remains committed to reducing all forms of criminal activities in the state and beyond.

He called for more collaboration from members of the public. The Commander assured that arrangements have been concluded to charge the suspects to court.
